Delay
Creative prompt: Some echoes arrive late; some answers reach us only after the moment has passed. When action, emotion, memory, or the world itself is delayed, what mechanics and stories emerge? Capture the tenderness and resonance of things that arrive after their time.
Theme guidance: How well an entry engages with the theme affects its final score. The prompt is only a reference, and entrants are free to interpret the theme in their own way. Each submission must include a written explanation of how the work relates to the theme.
How to Submit
-
1
Work submission: The website submission channel opens on August 12. Register first, then submit at least a Web or Windows build. For the single work you are entering, select the Festival 2026 tag; the system will add it to your registration automatically. Your work must include both Chinese and English interfaces. We recommend Godot’s built-in internationalization system—it is straightforward, and help is available in the group or forum. For a web build, include a Chinese font for every component that may display Chinese text, or Godot will be unable to render it correctly.
-
2
Video submission: By 23:59 on September 16 (Beijing time), publish a video of your entry on Bilibili, Douyin, or Xiaohongshu. Include GodotHub Festival 2026 or Godot游戏创作节 in the title, description, or video itself. The video may document your development process, demonstrate the work, explain your interpretation of the theme alongside gameplay, show a speedrun, or use another suitable format. It will help judges understand your creative intent and avoid getting stuck. You may publish the video as a series if needed.
Judging Criteria
Completeness
30%- Complete flow: a finished main menu, settings, level selection, score screens, and actions such as quitting, saving, and reloading a level.
- Complete interaction: interface flows are smooth, with no unfinished or non-interactive elements.
- Complete content: the quality and completeness of maps, levels, and story progression, as well as the amount of playable content.
- Theme alignment: rated unrelated (×0.55), low (×0.7), medium (×0.85), or high (×1). The score for the first three criteria is multiplied by this factor to determine the final completeness score.
Gameplay
30%- Originality and enjoyment: whether the gameplay is inventive, engaging, and fun.
- Challenge: whether the gameplay offers an appropriate degree of challenge.
- Responsiveness and accessibility: controls and guidance are clear, intuitive, and easy to learn.
Visual Art
10%- Quality and style of visual assets: the originality, appeal, and polish of 2D and 3D art, animation, and effects.
- Effective use of shaders or other stylized rendering techniques to create a distinctive visual identity.
- Interface: the visual quality and consistency of UI and motion design.
Music and Sound
10%- How well music and sound design complement the style of the work.
Stability and Optimization
10%- Whether severe bugs prevent the work from launching or interrupt play.
- Whether the work suffers from severe stuttering, crashes, or similar issues.
Additional Merit
10%- Whether the work as a whole—including sound, visual style, and gameplay—creates a compelling emotional experience such as joy, sadness, or tension.
- Online or multiplayer features, technically ambitious work, and other qualities the judges consider worthy of additional credit.
